The Executive Branch enacted the Law 7593/2025 which establishes a legal framework for the use of personal data, strengthening the right to privacy enshrined in the National Constitution.
The law prohibits public or private companies and institutions from processing data without a legal basis, provides enhanced protection for children and adolescents, and guarantees rights such as access, rectification, objection, erasure, portability, and withdrawal of consent for free.
In addition, the National Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, with the operational autonomy to monitor compliance, address inquiries, and issue guidelines.
The provisions regarding the disclosure of public information by public officials—such as compensation and financial disclosures—remain in effect without any changes.
