Key Points of the Regulations Governing the Minimum Wage Adjustment

The MTESS issued regulations governing the adjustment to the minimum wage effective July 1, 2026.

In addition to updating the new minimum wage levels, MTESS Resolution No. 670/2026 establishes criteria for calculating wages for mixed work schedules and standardizes the rules applicable to part-time work, apprenticeship contracts, and other types of employment arrangements. These clarifications contribute to a more uniform application of labor regulations by employers.

What does MTESS Resolution No. 670/2026 provide for?

  • It implements Decree No. 6,225, which increased the minimum wage by 5%.
  • The new provisions take effect on July 1, 2026.
  • Update the general, sector-specific, and occupation-based minimum wages.

New Minimum Wage Rates

  • Monthly minimum wage: G. 3,044,000.
  • Daily minimum wage: G. 117,077.
  • New rates are also being set for night work, part-time employment, and apprenticeship contracts.

The resolution includes calculation criteria

  • It establishes how to calculate pay for day shifts, night shifts, and mixed shifts.
  • Defines the calculation of hourly wages for monthly-salaried and daily-wage workers.
  • It maintains the same criteria for specific activities and regulated professions.

Employer Obligations

  • Implement the new minimum wages effective July 1, 2026.

  • Verify that the activity reported to the DNIT and the MTESS matches the applicable wage category.
